This matters more than it sounds. The kind of property decides the access, the reach and the price, so here is what the census actually says rather than a guess.
The spread is the point. Berkeley is 83.3% semi-detached. Westcliff is 66.8% built between 1955 and 1964. Yaddlethorpe is 44.4% detached. North Lincolnshire as a whole is far more detached than Rotherham or Wakefield, at 35.2%.
A bit about Scunthorpe
Ironstone was rediscovered in 1859 and the town grew west, because the works took the east. New Frodingham, built by Rowland Winn in 1865 for the ironworks, is still a grid of red brick and pantile terraces off Winn Street and Cliff Street, with rear yards, carriage passages and parking behind. The historic characterisation study notes that the views from it include the steelworks.
Push west and the whole town turns into the twentieth century. Over 15,000 houses were built between 1921 and 1961, and nearly 7,000 more across eight council estates between the 1940s and 1970s. Westcliff is 81.7% built between 1955 and 1972. Yaddlethorpe and Bottesford are where the detached houses and driveways start.
The town called itself an Industrial Garden City and it shows, with a near-continuous green spine through Central Park, Brumby Wood, Hornby’s Holt and Cliff Plantation. Forestry Commission figures put Brumby at 24.8% tree canopy and Ashby at 6.0%, which is a striking contrast inside one town.

Wind analysis puts the source at the works complex east of the housing. That is airborne particulate, not just traffic gas, and it settles on glass.
The eastern side of town needs it more often
Frodingham, Crosby, Old Brumby and anything on the works side picks up measurably more particulate than the western suburbs. If you are that side of town, six weeks is doing real work.
New Frodingham has rear access, most estates do not need it
The historic characterisation study specifically records carriage passages and rear parking in New Frodingham. Out on the twentieth-century estates, houses sit back behind a front garden and driveway, which is straightforward.
Bigger jobs out at Bottesford and Yaddlethorpe
This is where the detached stock is, and where gutter clearing, fascias and conservatory roofs are more often the reason people call than the windows.
